The brief

George Bartlett coaches endurance athletes, and his own range is the unusual part. Ex-Royal Marine Mountain Leader, former professional cyclist, once a national-hunt jockey: he coaches runners, cyclists, military selection candidates and expedition athletes, and he does it himself rather than hand out a template. The old presence carried none of that. Four very different athletes were landing in the same place, and the thing that actually makes The Fitness Margin worth booking, a coach, not an algorithm, wasn’t coming through.

The work

An editorial site built around two jobs: show the range, then route each athlete to the right door. The homepage leads on the brand line, Crafting Endurance, over the Malvern Hills, with the credentials carried plainly underneath: 100% goal hit rate, Royal Marine Mountain Leader, coached by 2× Olympians, a sub-22hr Bob Graham. From there the four disciplines (running, cycling, military and expedition) each get a section written for that athlete, so a trail ultra-runner and a PRMC candidate aren’t reading the same generic pitch.

Beneath the disciplines sits the coaching, laid out as a single clear ladder: Programming for self-led athletes, Coaching with weekly calls and unlimited WhatsApp, and a Premium 1-to-1 for athletes who want him in the room. Booking is one tap to a free consultation, with WhatsApp alongside for the quick question, and the training itself runs through TrueCoach. The design stays out of the way: big confident type, real photography from the hills, nothing decorative competing with the athlete’s decision.

The system

  • Hand-coded site, no template or page-builder, built to load fast on a phone mid-session.
  • Four discipline tracks, each written for its own athlete rather than sharing one page.
  • A three-tier coaching ladder (Programming, Coaching, Premium 1-to-1) with a single obvious next step.
  • Booking wired to a free consultation, WhatsApp for direct contact, TrueCoach for delivery.
  • Credibility surfaced where it counts: the coach’s background, the coached by 2× Olympians line, and a testimonial from Olympian Liam Killeen.
  • Editorial photography from real sessions in the hills, no stock.

The result

The site now reads as carefully as the coaching is delivered. The range that makes George worth booking is legible at a glance, each athlete lands somewhere written for them, and the path from interested to free consultation is short and plain. A brand that looks like the real thing, because it is.
